What is a Cat N write-off?
A Category N write-off means the vehicle has non-structural damage, like cosmetic damage, electrical issues, or minor mechanical problems. The damage isn't severe enough to affect the vehicle's structural integrity
The DVLA does not record Category N write-offs on the V5 (log book) because Category N vehicles are considered non-structurally damaged and can be repaired to a roadworthy condition. They don't need to be re-registered with the DVLA after repairs, unlike vehicles in Categories A, B, or S. The DVLA does require notification that a vehicle has been written off, even for Category N, but this doesn't involve updating the V5
